In Georgia, foreign citizens are allowed to purchase real estate,foreigners can buy residential apartments and commercial spaces, but the purchase of agricultural land is restricted.
▫️When acquiring real estate, the buyer is required to pay a one-time registration fee to the Public Registry.
Under the current legislation, the purchase of real estate can serve as a basis for obtaining a residence permit under certain conditions, provided the property is valued at no less than the equivalent of $100,000 in Georgian Lari.
🔹The residence permit is valid for 1 year and can be renewed as long as the buyer retains ownership of the property.
The process of registering property rights is fast and transparent, typically taking 1 to 4 days.
The purchase of real estate requires an agreement between the buyer and the seller, prepared by attorney/lawyer in three copies and in two languages: Georgian and another language chosen by the non-resident buyer.
To register real estate (or to formalize the purchase agreement) in Georgia, only a passport is required.
The buyer’s presence is not mandatory for signing the agreement. This can be done by a representative with a notarized power of attorney.
When purchasing real estate in Georgia, only a state fee is paid at the Public Service Hall during the registration of the purchase agreement.
